Like I said in the last post, I’m going to post my weekly menu. This week was unique in that I was out of town on Saturday, Sunday and Monday. So I will only have meals starting on Tuesday. Hello
I love reading blogs about how others handle meal planning and preparation. Everyone is unique to their own family dynamics and I learn a lot from reading them. But the best teacher has been trial and error over time. So what works for me, may not work for everyone. But at the very least, it could help “jump start” someone in their search.
Once again, in keeping up with the challenge we set for ourselves from The 26 Foods You Should Learn to Cook in Your Twenties, we attempted “Perfectly Pan Seared Steaks”. And by “attempted”, I mean we struggled a bit. Mainly because we had a hard time knowing when they were done. My takeaway from this challenge is that I need to trust my meat thermometer.
In keeping with The Cooking Challenge Theme from the 26 Foods You Should Learn to Cook in your Twenties, we decided to tackle Homemade Macaroni and Cheese. I realized very quickly that I have neglected my children’s culinary education when they were hoping we were going to make pasta with Velveeta Cheese on it. They were greatly disappointed when they realized we were going to make it from scratch using REAL cheese!
This week’s cooking challenge from 26 Foods You should learn to cook in your twenties blog, is Homemade Brownies! This one was a lot more fun seeing as how we all agreed that brownies rock! I think looking up recipes on Pinterest was almost as much fun as making them. Okay, maybe not since there is no way to virtually taste them. As least not now. Give it time.
